Kaapse Honeybush is a local liqueur with a uniquely South African herbal tea taste. The unique flavour is derived from the indigenous fynbos to the Cape, well known for its medicinal properties. Kaapse Honeybush Liqueur was a Gold Medal winner at the 2016 International Michelangelo Wine and Spirits Awards!

Natural Honeybush Herbal Tea

Honeybush is indigenous to the Cape and is part of South Africa’s unique fynbos plant group. Along with its close relation rooibos, it was discovered in the 18th century. Honeybush owes its name to the bright yellow, honey-scented flowers which cover the bushes during spring.

In the past the flowers were included when making the tea and it was called “blommetjiestee” (flower tea). Today we know that the characteristic sweet aroma and taste is actually produced by the leaves. Honeybush tea’s flavour is deeply complex and naturally sweet, with elements of rich, roasted fynbos.

Honeybush is a natural herbal tea, containing no caffeine, preservatives, artificial additives or colourants. It boasts high levels of antioxidants, is low in tannins and possesses a range of medicinal properties. A delicious liqueur with antioxidants – the best of both worlds!

Kaapse Honeybush tea is sourced from the Cape Honeybush company (capehoneybush.co.za) which produces a single origin tea. It is an unblended, pure tea from a single geographic region – the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The subtly sweet fynbos flavour and abundant health properties of honeybush tea make it the perfect option for infusion with our Kaapse Limoncello Liqueur. The result? A delicious combination of the Western Cape’s finest lemons and the natural sweetness of honeybush.

Unique Taste and Aroma

This traditional liqueur is best served chilled, on ice or at room temperature in a balloon glass, to amplify the complex aroma. You can also drink this truly South African, fynbos-infused liqueur in the style of a cognac or digestive after a great meal.
