Ras el Hanout

Ras el Hanout is a Moroccan spice blend popular in North African countries. The literal translation of Ras el Hanout is "head of the shop" and legend has it that the spice blend originated with the early North African spice merchants that would mix all the best spices they had on offer together and in the process created a flavorsome spice blend.

Ras el hanout can contain upwards of twenty different spices and each Moroccan family has their own special blend. Our blend contains sixteen ingredients and has been tweaked to personal taste. It can be enhanced with food grade dried rose leaves to add an exotic taste to dishes and is widely used in meat, chicken, fish and vegetable dishes especially slow cooked stews and soups.
